Iowa State LB Will McLaughlin looks forward to the new season
July 29th, 2025 by Ric Hanson
Iowa State linebacker Will McLaughlin credits his faith for helping him get back on the field. After playing in 25 games his first two seasons the former Harlan standout missed the first nine games last season after a groin injury and back surgery last summer. After playing in the final five games last season McLaughlin is healthy and looking forward to the new season.
Injuries are a part of football and McLaughlin admits it was frustrating to be sidelined.
A healthy linebacker corps should help a Cyclone defense that slipped to 15th in the Big 12 against the run last season. That group will also have a role in boosting ISU’s pass rush.
The Cyclones get an early start to the season when they take on Big 12 rival Kansas State in Dublin, Ireland on August 23rd.
