Iowa quarterback Mark Gronowski is on the field and taking part in summer workouts. Gronowski transferred to Iowa after a standout career at South Dakota State but missed spring drills after undergoing surgery on his throwing shoulder.

Gronowski says he was fully cleared at the start of summer.

The Hawkeyes were the top rushing team in Big Ten play last season. Gronowski has been working with offensive coordinator Tim Lester to improve a passing game that ranked at the bottom of the conference.

Gronowski made a trip to the Manning Passing Academy this summer.

An improved receiving corps will help. Sophomore Reece Vander Zee returns after starting eight games as a true freshman.

Injuries limited Seth Anderson to seven games last year. He is looking for a healthy senior season.

The Hawkeyes open on August 30th at home against the University of Albany.
