GARY FUNKHOUSER, 89, of Treynor,  died July 21, 2025, in Council Bluffs. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for GARY FUNKHOUSER will be held at 2-p.m. on August 2nd, at the Treynor High School Auditorium. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family.

Visitation with the family will follow the service until 5:00 PM.  Interment will be at a later date.

The family kindly asks that memorials be made out to the Joseph Nystrom Scholarship Fund, (https://www.joeworkingstudent.com), Zion Congregational Church, or directed to the family.

GARY FUNKHOUSER is survived by:

His wife of 64 years –  Julie.

His sons – Mark Funkhouser, of Omaha; and Kirk Funkhouser, of Austin, Texas.

His daughter – Jennifer (Martin) Nystrom, of Mebane, North Carolina.

3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; extended family, cherished friends, and countless former students, colleagues, and community members who were inspired by his wisdom, humor, and heart.
