(Avoca, Iowa) –  Officials with Avoca-based Regional Water said on social media, late Sunday, that they had received a call earlier that day from a customer in Audubon County west of Hamlin along Highway 44 with low water pressure. An operator was dispatched to investigate, and it was determined that there was a possible leak. The search was initiated, and crews are working diligently to locate the specific area. Due to the presence of a major fiber cable in the area, locates were requested and officials were waiting for the fiber company to flag their cable before the repairs can be made.
The current situation has affected 64 Regional Water customers at this time, all of whom are in rural Audubon County, including those along and East of Ibis Ave, on and West of Lark Ave, 235th, on Hwy 44 between Ibis & Lark, 225th Lane, Hwy 71, Jay Ave, 250th, and residents in Hamlin.
Regional Water officials said they had received no calls from anyone in Shelby, Pottawattamie, Cass or Harrison Counties as of this report concerning low or no pressure.
All towers on the system have adequate pressure; however, any customer who has no pressure on their line should go into a boil advisory status until the repair is made. The 64 customers affected will be directly notified and will remain in a boil advisory until 2 consecutive days of bacteria testing results come back negative.
Crews are prepared to make repairs as quickly as possible.
