Aircraft makes an unscheduled “soft landing” in an Iowa field

KNOXVILLE, Iowa [KCCI] – An aircraft made an unscheduled landing in a Marion County farm field Sunday morning, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office said it was contacted by MercyOne Communications Center shortly before 10:30 a.m. Sunday to report that an aircraft had gone down near the rural intersection of 102nd Avenue and Jewell Drive, northwest of Knoxville.
When first responders arrived, they found the aircraft had made a “soft landing” in a soybean field and the lone occupant, the pilot, was uninjured. The sheriff’s office did not specify the type of aircraft involved.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause of the incident.
