2 Hawkeyes Bring Home Pan-Am Gold

LIMA, Peru – Two University of Iowa women’s wrestlers had first-place finishes at the 2025 U20 Pan-American Championships on Friday in Peru. Sophomore Cadence Diduch (65 kg) and incoming freshman Bella Willams (59 kg) went undefeated on their way to gold. Junior Lilly Luft took second-place at 62 kg.

At 59 kg, Williams went 4-0 in a round robin format with two falls and two technical falls. She defeated Talita Caballero Orozco of Peru via fall, 0:43, to start her day. Williams then dominated Allison Valdez Obando of Guatemala, 11-0. Williams closed out her day with victories over Ella Finding of Canada and Cecilia Barranco Solano of Mexico to secure gold.

Diduch was dominant at 65 kg starting the day winning both her matches by tech. fall, 10-0 to advance to the semifinals. In the semis, she pinned Valeria Perez Pacheco of Mexico in 2:46 to secure her spot in the gold medal match. In the finals, Diduch had her third tech. fall of the tournament defeating Mackenzie Cayer of Canada, 10-0.

At 62 kg, Luft punched her ticket to the gold medal match with a semifinal pin over Diana Estarita Martinez of Colombia in 4:32. Luft fell in the finals, 2-1, to Annika Fines from Canada.
