(Update) Extreme Heat Warning issued for western Iowa from Noon Friday until 9-p.m. Sunday

The Extreme Heat Watch for western Iowa that was set to go into effect at noon on Saturday, has been replaced with an EXTREME HEAT WARNING in effect for all the counties in our coverage area.

Sac-Crawford-Carroll-Audubon-Guthrie-Cass-Adair-Adams-Taylor Counties

EXTREME HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON FRIDAY TO 9 PM CDT SUNDAY.

Monona-Harrison-Shelby-Pottawattamie-Mills-Montgomery-Fremont-Page Counties

EXTREME HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON FRIDAY TO 7 PM CDT SUNDAY.

* WHAT…Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values of 105 to 110 expected.

* IMPACTS…Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Heat impacts will be worsened by several consecutive days of sweltering temperatures, with little relief overnight as lows will only be in the upper 70s.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
