Man severely injured in a Madison County job site accident

(East Peru, Iowa) – Sheriff’s officials in Madison County report one person was severely injured during a work site accident southeast of East Peru (IA), late Monday morning. Authorities says at around 10:54-a.m., the Madison County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting an adult male had been badly injured on a job site in the 2700-block of Peru Road, in rural Madison County.
Responding Sheriff’s Deputies and Paramedics with the Madison County Ambulance discovered that a 37-year-old adult male had been critically injured while operating machinery used in the installation of fiber optics. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was flown from the scene by air ambulance to a Des Moines hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
A report on his condition was unknown as of late Monday night.

During an investigation into the accident, it was learned that co-workers more than likely saved the man’s life, when they were able to apply 1st Aid until first responders arrived. The man’s identity is not being released at this time.
