John Deere Classic returns to the Quad Cities

June 29th, 2025 by Ric Hanson

The PGA Tour returns to the Quad Cities this week with Thursday’s start of the John Deere Classic. In 2022, the tournament moved back a week and is now two weeks before the British Open. While the change has helped attract more big names to the field it also means the tournament will consistently be held the week of the Fourth of July holiday.

That’s tournament director Andrew Lehman (lay-min) who says the date change as well as the PGA Tour cutting the number of players who qualify for the FedEx Cup playoffs from 125 to 70 has helped their field.

Davis Thompson will be back to defend his title this week.
