(Atlantic, Iowa) – Cass County Democrats will host a Community Education session about the U.S. Constitution, Tuesday, July 1st at the Heritage House, in Atlantic. The event, in advance of Independence Day, is open to everyone. Officials say Jennifer Konfrst, a Democrat State Representative from Windsor Heights, will give a presentation about the US Constitution, focusing on the Bill of Rights and what it guarantees for Americans, constitutional protections and how those apply to us, and the checks/balances the Constitution gives the federal government.
Konfrst is a professor of journalism and mass communication at Drake University, and a candidate for U.S. Congress. She has served for four years as Iowa House Minority Leader and was the first woman to hold the post. She teaches coursework in persuasive and political communication, and her research focuses on public addresses as communications tools. Her work in the legislature focuses on public education, health care, workers’ rights, affordable housing, and making Iowa a welcoming state where people want to live and raise a family.
Her presentation and a conversation to follow, takes place from 5:30-until 7:30-p.m. Tuesday (July 1), in the Heritage Hall at the Heritage House in Atlantic. Pocket-size U.S. Constitution booklets will be available for $2.00. You’re invited to bring a friend, and an appetizer to share.
