Riverside Wins 4×800 Relay
May 23rd, 2025 by Christian Adams
For the first time in 20 years, the Riverside Bulldogs are champions of a relay. Brody Henderson, Owen Fenner, Cruz Jaquez, and Dawson Henderson claimed the 4×800 title Thursday afternoon, running a school best 8:01.86. Coming in as one of the favorites, Brody Henderson knew a good start was all they needed.
Fenner nearly matched Henderson’s opening leg stride for stride and said his success in cross country translated to the track.
Jaquez had a great third leg to push the Bulldogs towards victory, running the second fastest 400m time on the team. He was cool, calm, and collected as the opening two legs gave him all the confidence he needed.
By the time the baton was handed to Dawson Henderson, the Bulldogs were in control. Running the fastest 400 on the team, he focused on keeping a steady second lap to secure the victory, beating the runner-up by nearly 4 minutes. Henderson also talked about how much it meant to the whole Riverside family.
With the Hendersons being juniors while Fenner and Jaquez are sophomores, there is no reason to think the Bulldogs’ boys 4×800 will be dropping off anytime soon.
