IRVING, Texas – Four Cyclones collected All-Big 12 Honors Wednesday morning, as the Big 12 Conference officially announced the 2025 softball postseason awards. For Iowa State, its four individual conference honorees on All-Big 12 teams ties the most in a single season in school history (2022, 2003).
ISU’s postseason awards were highlighted by freshman Jessie Clemons, who was a unanimous First Team All-Big 12 player. Clemons is the first Cyclone to earn All-Big 12 First Team honors since Sami Williams did so in 2021. She’s also the first Cyclone since Williams in 2017 to be a unanimous first-teamer. With the honor, Clemons becomes just the third Cyclone in the Big 12 Era to be named to the All-Big 12 First Team as a freshman (Williams – 2017 & Lindsey Herrin – 2002).
Clemons finished the regular season leading the team in batting average (.373) and doubles (13) while tying for the team lead in hits (63) and RBI (36). Clemons ranked in the top 15 of the conference in average (T6), runs (12), hits (T4), doubles (T3) and RBI (T14).
Fellow freshman Sereniti Trice and junior Tatum Johnson each picked up All-Big 12 Second Team recognitions for ISU. It’s the first time since 2022 that ISU placed two or more athletes on the same team.
Trice, like Clemons, also had a stellar freshman campaign. The San Diego native was second on the team in batting average (.366) and triples (2) while leading the team in runs scored (44) and stolen bases (14). Trice tied with Clemons for the team lead in hits with 63.
A year after strictly pitching, Johnson made the permanent switch to the outfield in 2025 and had a tremendous showing. The junior had a breakout season, slashing .354/.507/.593. Johnson led the team in both slugging and on-base percentage while drawing the second-most walks (25) and being hit by the most pitches (10).
Both Clemons and Trice were joined by rookie teammate Karlee Ford on the All-Freshman Team, as ISU was tied for the most players on the team (UCF) in the league. The school’s three All-Freshman Team selections are the most ever in a single season in program history. Clemons was one of four first-years in the league to be named to both the First Team and Freshman Team.
After filling in for an injury midway through the season, Ford grasped the starting catcher gig and never gave it back. The Goddard, Kansas, native had seven doubles in league play, tied for the conference best. Ford finished the year with the team’s fifth-most RBI, despite not playing in 16 games.
For Johnson, it is her second-ever Big 12 honor, as she earned Player of the Week recognition earlier this season (4/29). The trio of Clemons, Ford and Trice all garnered their first conference acknowledgements.
The Cyclones will be back in action this Thursday, May 8, when they open up the Big 12 Championship with quarterfinal action. Iowa State will await the winner of the (11) Houston vs. (6) BYU game and play is set to begin on Thursday at 7:30 pm with action streamed live on ESPN+.
