Nodaway Valley Softball Set to Begin 2025 Season
May 27th, 2025 by Jack McGonigal
The Nodaway Valley softball season begins Thursday and like many teams around the state this early into the season, there is not that crystal clear starting nine yet. It is all about trial and error. Figuring out what works better than others, who has the strongest chemistry and what lineup gives you the best chance to win. Assistant Head Coach Ryan Zenir says there could be several different lineups we see throughout the course of the season.
The Wolverines will have a few new faces in the circle this summer.
A first-time co-op between Orient-Macksburg and Nodaway Valley puts Junior Emma Boswell on the Wolverines roster this season. Zenir says Boswell should be a major addition to the infield and the lineup.
Nodaway Valley returns Junior Izzy Eisbach as well. Eisbach, the state’s leading scorer on the basketball court is quite the softball talent as well. Eisbach hit .316 in 19 at bats with the Wolverines last year and just lightens up the team spirit according to Zenir.
According to coaches, the team has made it seem as if this co-op has been around for much longer with the way players from different schools interact.
The Wolverines begin their season Thursday with a road contest versus Mount Ayr.
