Day one was a successful one for Nodaway Valley’s Trenton Warner, as he is now a state champion. Warner won the event on his very first throw. A hurl going 53-11.75, which stood the test. The throw ended up beating Coon Rapids-Bayards’ Cal Heydon by more than a foot. Although he wasn’t sure the throw was a winner, he said it felt good.

He also fed off the crowd.

As a senior, it was significant for him to go out on top.

Warner’s effort helped lift the Wolverines to second place at the end of day one.
