A NASCAR driver made a stop in Central Iowa leading up to the return of the Cup Series to the Iowa Speedway this summer.
Cole Custer says it is important to give back to the fans who support their sport. The cup series driver threw out the first pitch at an Iowa Cubs game in Des Moines and also made a stop at an elementary school in Newton.
At the school, the 27-year old Custer fielded questions from third graders, including, have you ever been on fire?

Custer has fond memories of the Iowa Speedway. He won a NASCAR K&N Pro Series race at the track back in 2013 as a 15-year-old.
Custers says the Iowa Speeway fits his style of driving. He finished sixth in the Xfinity Series race at the track last year.
The Iowa Corn 350 is August third at the Iowa Speedway.
