INDIANOLA, Iowa – Haley Rasmussen wrapped up her Simpson women’s basketball career in record-breaking fashion, Thursday, earning the NCAA Division III Statistical Champion title for 3-point percentage after shooting a blistering 51.7% from deep — the highest single-season mark in program history. A former Atlantic High School standout, Rasmussen’s mark at Simpson not only led DIII but was the best across all three NCAA divisions, men’s and women’s. Her remarkable shooting helped propel Simpson to national recognition as a team as well; the Storm led all NCAA women’s divisions in 3-point percentage, finishing the season at 40.2 percent — another program-best mark. It marks the second time in the past four seasons the Storm have claimed the national team title in this category.

School officials say across 26 games, Rasmussen knocked down 75 triples, finishing among the top 20 in Division III in both total makes and makes per game, and securing the top spot on Simpson’s all-time single-season 3-point list. Senior guard Molly Lutmer wasn’t far behind, connecting on 70 threes at a 37.6 percent clip. Together, the duo ended their careers among the top five in program history for career 3-pointers made.
Rasmussen joins Jenna Taylor (2019) and Amy Hamilton (2009) as Storm players to lead the nation in 3-point percentage.
