The season has ended for the Atlantic Girls tennis team and Head Coach Mike McDermott says a pair of seniors leave the program after this year and made a major impact on the team’s success this year.

The Trojans began the season falling in a few Hawkeye Ten duals. Afterwards, the Trojans were able to pick up momentum by winning four duals in a row beginning with a road victory at Glenwood.

Despite the two seniors graduating, Atlantic’s top two players from this season have two years left with the Trojans and several players that will enter their senior years.

The Iowa High School Girls Athletic Union has announced tennis will be a fall sport beginning this upcoming academic and athletic season. McDermott says the change will be a quicker turnround and normal, while it has its pros and cons.

Therefore, practice will begin August 2nd for next year’s Trojan Girls Tennis team and McDermott says there is a lot of excitement already building for the fall.
