(Atlantic, Iowa) – Storm debris caused about a couple of hundred residents of downtown Atlantic to lose power early this (Wednesday) morning. Atlantic Municipal Utilities General Manager Steve Tjepkes said the power went out at around 4:15-a.m.
He said the breakers tripped when the debris hit, so the transformers wouldn’t be damaged. Several residents reported hearing loud booms just before they lost power.
Thanks to the efforts of AMU crews, power was restored as quickly as possible.
