SEATTLE, Wash. – The 32nd-ranked University of Iowa women’s tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 18 Washington on Sunday in the regular season finale at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center.

The Huskies (19-3, 11-2) opened the match by securing the doubles point. On court one, Daianne Hayashida and Marisa Schmidt overcame No. 52 Reece Carter and Alexia Jacobs to post a 6-3 win. At No. 3, Carina Syrtveit and McKenna Koenig defeated Nikita Vishwase and Jessica Matthews, 6-4. In the deciding match on court two, Erika Matsuda and Sophie Luescher edged Barbora Pokorna and Pia Kranholdt, 6-4, to claim the doubles point.

In singles, Washington captured three straight-set wins. On court three, Jacobs defeated Pokorna 6-3, 6-1. At No. 4, Koenig extended the lead with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kranholdt. Washington won the match on court two where Matsuda defeated Schmidt 6-4, 6-0.

With Washington clinching its fourth point, the remaining three matches were left unfinished. On court one, No. 108 Hayashida was leading No. 94 Carter 6-0, 3-6, 3-1. At No. 5, Vishwase was battling Luescher 3-6, 5-5 while Xu was down 5-7, 4-3 to Syrtveit.
