Hawkeyes Complete Day 1 of Big Ten Championships

HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. — The University of Iowa women’s golf team fired an opening round 303 on Friday to complete the first 18 holes of the Big Ten Championships at the Bulle Rock Golf Course.

Two Hawkeyes — sophomores Ximena Benites and Maura Peters — paced the team throughout the first day, shooting a three-over par 75.  The duo is tied for 36th place.

Iowa is currently tied for 14th with Penn State heading into day two. The Hawkeyes shot a 15-over par 303, five shots out of 10th place.

Oregon leads the field with a two-under par, 286. The Duck’s Ting-Hsuan Huang leads the team field with a three-under par 69.
