(Radio Iowa) – Rallies were held in over a dozen cities in Iowa this weekend, part of a nationwide day of protest against President Trump’s actions and the budget cuts a team led by Elon Musk are making. Judy Felder was at the event in Iowa City. “I really cannot believe what I’m seeing,” she said. “I’m in shock and I think that’s part of what they’re doing, is shock and awe, as fast as they can.”
Protests were also held in places like Red Oak, Sioux City, Decorah and Cedar Rapids. The largest gathering was at the state Capitol. Protesters and speakers at the rallies criticized Trump Administration actions and criticized congress for failing to be a check on agency closings, layoffs and other budget decisions being made by Musk’s “DOGE” team.
Protests were held over the weekend in Ames, Cedar Rapids, Council Bluffs, Davenport, Decorah, Des Moines, Dubuque, Fairfield, Iowa City, Lisbon, Mason City, Maquoketa, Mount Vernon, Red Oak and Waterloo.
