Authorities in Oregon are searching for a missing woman formerly from southwest Iowa

(Update late 4/6/25 from the Harney County (OR) Sheriff’s Office: Sunday afternoon, Kaylee’s car was discovered in a remote part of Southern Harney County. Unfortunately, Kaylee was not with her car. Search efforts are continuing, utilizing available resources which include:

‣ Lake County Search & Rescue
‣ Local ranchers: 6 on horseback, 2 side-by-sides, 2 four wheelers
‣ Grant County Search & Rescue with search K9s
‣ Harney County Sheriff’s Office

(Fields, OR) — Authorities in southeastern Oregon began a search for a woman who was on her way to southwest Iowa but who has not been seen since last Friday, April 4th. 29-year-old Kaylee Birt, a native of Shenandoah (IA) was last reported to have been seen at the Fields Station Country Store  in Fields, OR, at around 8:30-a.m., Friday.

Birt was traveling from Klamath Falls, OR. to Shenandoah, in a gold 2008 Chevy Malibu with Oregon plate GW21073. She was last seen wearing a green long-sleeved shirt with white sweatpants with Christmas trees on them. She has green and brown glasses with a mole on her left cheek. (See pictures of her shown here)  Authorities say Birt’s family and friends are extremely concerned about her safety and well-being.

The Harney County, OR Sheriff’s Office reports Deputies attempted to locate her Friday, working late into the night and hey continued their efforts again on Saturday. They were looking in an area where her phone last pinged, however, Sheriff’s officials say, it was not 100% accurate, because of its remote location.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen or spoken with the woman, to call 911 or the Harney County Sheriff’s Office at (541)-573-6156.
