(Manning, Iowa) – In an update to our previous report, officials with the City of Manning, Monday, said a building owned by Arrow Pallets was a complete loss, as the result of a fire over the weekend. At around 6-p.m. Sunday, January 26th, the Manning Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 803 Front Street. On arrival, crews found a large commercial structure on fire and additional departments were called in. There were no people in the building and no injuries were reported.
Dozens of volunteer firefighters from ten departments worked to contain the fire. The building was a total loss, but crews were able to prevent the large fire from spreading to adjacent buildings. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Cleanup was underway on Monday, with the scene is still smoldering. Due to the large amount of water drawn from the City’s fire hydrants (170,000 to 180,000 gallons), residents were advised the water supply in Manning may appear discolored, and there may be other issues, over  the next two-to three days.
