House fire in Hamburg Thursday morning

(Hamburg, Iowa) – Firefighters in Hamburg were dispatched to a house early this (Thursday) morning, in Hamburg. The blaze occurred in the 2300 block of Main Street. Crews responded to the scene at around 3:45-a.m.  The first crews arriving found the home’s kitchen fully engulfed in flames. Two adults and two children escaped the home. Officials say the fire alarms inside the house were not working.
After assessing the situation, mutual aid was requested from the Sidney, and Riverton Fire Departments, Farragut Fire and Rescue, Nebraska City Fire and Rescue. Hamburg Rescue provided rehab services to firefighters involved in an interior attack on the fire. The house was a total loss. An electrical issue is believed to have been the source of the blaze.
Firefighters remained on the scene for about three-hours.  No injuries were reported. (Photos are from the Hamburg Iowa Fire Department Facebook page)
