AMES, Iowa – Cyclone outfielder Angelina Allen picked up her second preseason All-American recognition Wednesday, as D1Softball tabbed the Moreno Valley, California native as a Preseason Second Team All-American.
Allen has now been named a preseason All-American by both D1Softball and Softball America. Prior to the All-American honor, Allen had already been tabbed as a top 30 player (No. 28) and a top 10 outfielder (No. 9) nationally by D1Softball.
Allen had one of the best seasons in school history last year, as she recorded 74 hits in 170 at-bats, scored 38 runs and tallied a team-high 43 RBI. She also registered a team-high 33 extra-base hits on the year, recording 22 doubles – the second-most in school history and the third-most in the nation – and 11 home runs.
One of just four Cyclones to start all 51 games, the Iowa State left fielder led the team in most every offensive category. Allen slashed .435/.489/.759, leading the team in all three departments. Her .435 batting average and .489 on-base percentage are the second-highest in a single season in program history.
Allen pulled in all sorts of accolades following last season for her play. She was a Second Team All-American by D1Softball, becoming the fourth All-American in school history. She was also named an All-Big 12 Second Team and NFCA First Team All-Midwest Region member.
Iowa State is set to open its 2025 campaign in Miami this February, competing in the Felsberg Invitational, with play set to begin on Feb. 7 against Stony Brook.
