AHSTW Boys Looking to Continue Winning Ways
January 16th, 2025 by Christian Adams
The AHSTW Vikings boys basketball team is looking to continue their winning ways heading into the final month of the season. After starting the season 0-4, the Vikes have made a turnaround. AHSTW has won four of their last five games, all by at least 10 points. Head coach G.G Harris says along with health; the defense has fueled his team’s run.
Offensively, three Vikings are having great starts to the year. One of which is senior Camden Soukup. Soukup is currently third on the team in scoring averaging 11.3 points per game. He is also one of the team’s best free throw shooters making 69% of his shots from the charity stripe while ranking second on the squad in attempts. Harris stated his production up front has been invaluable.
You also cannot forget about junior Collin Harder. The junior ranks second on the team in scoring putting up 12.2 points a night while also leading the team in assists. Harris thinks Harder is playing some of his best basketball as the team’s main distributor.
However, leading the way both on the floor and in the room is Luke Sternberg. Sternberg sits atop the Vikings in scoring averaging 18.8 points per game. In addition to scoring, he also leads the team in steals and rebounds. When mentioning Sternberg, Harris has been impressed with his competitiveness and leadership but says his basketball IQ and athletic ability have created problems for opposing defenses.
Although seems to be on the verge of breaking out, Harris still wants to see more consistency heading into the final stretch.
Coming up for the Vikings is a road contest with 8-3 Underwood. Harris is expecting a tough challenge and knows his team will have to defend well.
AHSTW contest at Underwood is scheduled for Friday at 7:30 pm.
