No. 4 Hawkeyes Knock Out Scarlet Knights

New Brunswick, NJ – The fourth-ranked Iowa women’s basketball team defeated Rutgers, 103-69, on Friday night inside Jersey Mike’s Arena. It was the first sellout for Rutgers women’s basketball since 2006. Iowa improved to 15-1 on the season and 4-0 in Big Ten play.

All-American Caitlin Clark recorded her third triple-double this season leading scoring with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. It was her 14th career triple-double.

Five Hawkeyes recorded double digit points. Kate Martin registered double digits in the first half finishing with 17 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Gabbie Marshall finished with 12 points, and Sydney Affolter and Hannah Stuelke each scored 10 points apiece.

Clark recorded nine points and Davis went 2-for-2 from three in the first quarter to aid the Hawkeyes in the early lead. Iowa outrebounded the Scarlet Knights, 31-13, in the first half to head into halftime with a 55-30, advantage.

It was more of the same in the second half as Iowa outscored Rutgers, 26-16, in the third quarter, shooting 62.5% from the field. Iowa closed out the game going on a 7-0 run midst of the fourth quarter.

It was Iowa’s fifth 100-point outing and 11th 20+ point victory of the season. It is also the first time in the Lisa Bluder era the Hawkeyes have started 15-1.
