Medical issue causes an accident in Harrison County, Friday

(Missouri Valley, Iowa) – A person suffering from an apparent seizure lost control of the pickup they were driving on Interstate 29 in Harrison County, Friday, causing their vehicle to enter the northbound I-29 median, where the it struck a cable barrier separating the north and southbound lanes. The accident happened at around 1:20-p.m.
According to a social media post by the Missouri Valley Fire Department, crews were called for an unresponsive driver in the median, just south of the construction by the Des Moines exit on I-29. They found a patient actively seizing, unresponsive and difficulty breathing.
Authorities say if the cable barrier had not been in-place, the  accident could have been much worse.The patient was transported to CHI Mercy in Council Bluffs in critical condition.
The Missouri Valley F.D. said they want to “thank the two employees of Ferrellgas that stopped right after the accident to assist that patient and called 911.” The employees assisted in getting the patient on the stretcher and to the ambulance.
