The SWV Timberwolves travelled to Lenox for the Pride of Iowa Conference Championships on Tuesday. Running on a beautiful fall afternoon at the Lenox Golf Course, the Timberwolves finished 5th in the girls team standings and 6th in the boys team standings.

In the girls race, the Timberwolves placed 5th overall, led by Olivia Kathikar (JR) in 35th place, Right behind Olivia were seniors Sierra Pearson (36th) and Karissa Richey (37th).  Rounding out the girls team was Victoria Fletchall (JR) in 42nd and Kya Newton (SR) in 43rd. Karissa and Victoria ran season best times tonight.  Karissa and Sierra were less than 20 seconds off from running career PR’s. Sierra and Kya ran their 2nd best times of the season, and Olivia ran her 3rd best time of the season.  Overall, the girls did a great job tonight, and with 2 meets left in the season, they are running some of their best times, which is all we can ask of them.
In the boys race, the Timberwolves placed 6th overall, just 4 points behind SE Warren and ahead of Mount Ayr in the team standings, the first time in a number of seasons that the boys have not been the last place team at conference.  Leading the way for the boys were juniors Matthew Means (27th) and Santiago Quintans Pineiro (29th) who both ran new career PR’s.  A pack of Timberwolves came in 38th, 39th, and 40th with Quaid Eddy (SO), Ashton Boswell (SO) and Ethan James (SR) just 8 seconds apart.  Lucas James (SO) finished 53rd to round out the boys team.
The boys overall continue to impress me this season.  They go out and run hard every night and continue to get better.  I challenged them to be a top 5 team tonight, and it was a close battle with SEW, and I am proud of them for going out and trying to get that tonight.  Matthew and Santiago are having great seasons, running new PR’s almost every meet.  Quaid continues to improve every week. Ethan has been incredibly consistent all season, with just 1:20 spread in his times across all races.
Ashton has been up and down a bit this season, but ran a good time tonight, and Lucas is really improved this year compared to last season.  Overall the boys have been great to work with, and I can’t wait to see what they do as the season wraps up in the next week.
The Timberwolves are scheduled to run on Thursday Oct 12th in their last regular season meet at Mount Ayr, and then wrap up their season with the State Qualifying Meet in Mount Ayr on Thursday Oct 19th.
