Tuesday night Southwest Valley faced Mount Ayr in Afton for the POI Semifinals. The Timberwolves did quick work and took the win in 3 straight sets advancing us to the championship match. The Timberwolves served aggressively keeping Mount Ayr out of system and allowing us to attack the ball. Mackenzie Fast had a team high 8 kills against Mount Ayr. SWV had a good spread at the net as we had multiple girls getting swings in. Madeline Bevington had 8 digs to lead the back row play. Charlee Larsen was fun at the service line with 6 of the team’s 10 aces.

SWV advanced past Mount Ayr into the Championship match where they faced Lenox and took home 2nd place. Mackenzie Fast again, had a team high 8 kills. Fast had no fear and was smart and past her years of experience on the court tonight. The Timberwolves struggled more at the service line and keeping the ball in system to get some more aggressive swings. SWV is proud to take home 2nd place in the POI. This team represents the school well. Southwest Valley has finished in the top 4 in the conference tournament every year for 9 years now. These girls are keeping that tradition alive and leaving their mark on our program.
Charlee Larsen also met a milestone tonight early in the first set of the Mount Ayr game. Charlee earned her 500+ career kill tonight. I am proud of the hard work she has put into her game and the leadership she brings to this team.
