(Fort Dodge, Iowa) – A Webster County man will not face charges, following an investigation into a fatal shooting that took place at his residence during the early morning hours of May 31, 2023.
On that date, the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call from a Fort Dodge resident reporting that someone was breaking into his garage at 1219 6th Ave S., and he had shot the male. This male was ultimately pronounced deceased and later identified as Bryan W. Gambill, of Fort Dodge.
Authorities say “Over the past few months, investigators have continued to look into the shooting death of Mr. Gambill. Investigators followed up on all available evidence and spoke to numerous people with information on this incident. Last week, investigators met with the Webster County Attorney’s office to go over all evidence gathered in this case. Both the Webster County Attorney’s Office and the Fort Dodge Police Department concluded that no charges would be filed in this case because the homeowner was acting in self‐defense.”
