Top ranked Ankeny Centennial scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth and pulled away to a 7-1 victory over Bettendorf in the Class 5A opener at the state softball tournament. Mady Ott had two hits for the Jaguars and her RBI single in the third gave Centennial a 2-1 lead.

Ott had singles in her first two at bats.

Centennial takes a 34-5 record into the 5A semifinals.
