Atlantic — The Trojan Softball team won a gritty game against the Shenendoah Fillies 3-0. The first two innings of play saw neither team score. It wasn’t until the bottom of the third inning that Claire Pellett walked into the batter’s box and hit a home run deep to left field off of the first pitch. The Trojans now led 1-0. The next run came in from an error during the bottom of the 4th. The game turned into 2-0.

The last run was another highlight moment for Atlantic. Zoey Kirchhoff was up to bat with one out in the bottom of the 6th. Peyton Athin pitched a fastball in the upper half of the strike zone and Kirchhoff swung with a sharp hit. She watched the ball go over the wall and the Trojans found themselves leading 3-0.

On the other side of the batter’s box Riley Wood dominated in the circle tonight.  Holding the Fillies scoreless off of 5 hits, no walks, and 5 strikeouts. The Trojans did not have a perfect game, with 3 errors that could have been avoided.

Coach Terry Hinzmann was happy with the decision making from the infield and offensive production through two homeruns.

The Trojans advance to the Regional Final Tuesday and it’s a game that Coach Hinzmann is focused on.

Shenendoah leaves their season with a record of (11-19). The Trojans now (23-15) head to the Regional Final against Davis County in Bloomfield. They play Tuesday night July 11th.
