The Griswold Tigers softball team avenged their lone loss on the season so far with a 6-0 victory over the CAM Cougars in Griswold on Tuesday night.

The Tigers jumped on top early with two runs in the bottom of the first. Lydia Greiman got a base hit. Makenna Askeland delivered a 2-out single to get two runners aboard. Then Karly MIllikan came through with a double to bring both base-runners home.

Griswold would hold that 2-0 lead until the third. The top of the order was due up and the first two batters got out on a strikeout and pop-up catch by CAM pitcher Emma Follmann. Then Brenna Rossell earned a walk to kick off a big 2-out rally from the Tigers. Makenna Askeland reached on an error and Karly Millikan was walked to load the bases. Marissa Askeland reached on an error and a run scored. Then Joey Reynolds blasted a bases-clearing double to left field to make the score 6-0.

Helen Riker came on in relief for CAM and the pitchers dominated the rest of the way. Karly Millikan was strong in the circle for Griswold with 9 strikeouts, 1 walk, and just two hits allowed. After the game Millikan said her teammates help give her confidence.

Millikan felt like she needed to come through when she had the chance at the plate in the first.

Griswold’s lone loss on the season came at the hands of the Cougars ten days ago at the Southwest Valley Tournament 6-1. Millikan said it felt good to get the better of them this time.
