Iowa broke the game open with a five run fifth inning and beat Purdue 9-1 in the rubber game of their Big Ten series. The Hawkeyes had nine hits and took advantage of 10 free bases to move to 12-6 in the Big Ten.
That’s Iowa coach Rick Heller who says good defense was a factor as well.
After a couple of shaky outings Langenberg tossed seven innings to move his record to 5-1.
The Hawkeyes are 28-16 overall.
