Iowa’s Jordan Bohannon came out on top of the 2022 College 3-Point Contest on Thursday evening in New Orleans. Bohannon won the men’s division of the contest and then also won the match-up with the women’s contest winner at the end of the event. Bohannon topped Brad Davison of Wisconsin, Alfonso Plummer of Illinois, Sasha Stefanovic of Purdue, Carl Pierre of Rice, Alex O’Connell of Creighton, and Davion Mintz of Kentucky in the contest.

Bohannon started slow with 15 points in the opening round but advanced to the semifinals on a tiebreaker. He then totaled 20 points in the semis, making all the money balls and notching 14 points through the first three racks alone. He then matched up against Brad Davison of Wisconsin in the men’s final. Davison tallied 17 points in his run but Bohannon came up with the shots he needed late. He had just five points through the first two racks but made 8 straight shots, including a perfect run at the top of the key to close in. He made the first four of the final rack to edge past Davison 18-17.

Bohannon then met women’s champion Kendall Spray of Florida Gulf Coast in the “Battle of the Sexes” final and came out a 21-19 winner. He made 11 straight shots in the final run and the final money ball was the difference.

Creighton’s O’Connell had the second best first round performance with 17 points and fell two points shy of the final with 17 again in the semifinals. O’Connell also participated in the slam dunk contest but lost out on a tiebreak in the first round.

Taze Moore of Houston was the Slam Dunk Contest winner, beating out Alondes Williams of Wake Forest in the finals.
