Drake women beat Evansville in OT

EVANSVILLE, IND. – The Drake University women’s basketball team conquered Evansville, 80-71, in their lone overtime game of the regular season.

The 16-12, 8-9 Bulldogs advanced their winning streak to four after topping the Aces for the second time this season.

Redshirt-junior Grace Berg paced the Bulldogs with her 20 points. She fell just short of a double-double when she grabbed nine rebounds.

Junior Maggie Bair led the Bulldogs with 10 rebounds and added a block, steal, assist to the books.

With two seconds left in regulation, graduate guard Maddie Petersen attempted a shot from in the paint for Drake to win by two, but the officials said it did not leave her hands in time.

The two teams were forced into five minutes of overtime play, with the game tied at 64 each.

Davis scored a layup for the Aces to lead by two, but junior guard Megan Myer retaliated with a shot from beyond the arc for Drake to lead by one.

Meyer finished with 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and a steal.

The Bulldogs remain in Indiana to take on Indiana State on Saturday March 3 at 12pm.
