Des Moines, Iowa (KCCI)  — The Iowa Department of Public Health released new COVID-19 data Friday. IDPH reports 747 patients hospitalized with the virus, up from 721 at the last report on Monday and the highest total reported in 2021. Of those hospitalized with COVID-19, 73.3% are unvaccinated, while 83.3% of those listed in intensive care with COVID-19 are unvaccinated.

Positive tests are also on the rise. IDPH reports 9,706 new positive tests in the last seven days, up from 8,221 on Monday. The state’s 14-day positivity rate increased from 11.2% to 11.5%. The state now reports 20 long-term care facilities with virus outbreaks, up from 19 on Monday.

There have been 4,232,948 vaccine doses administered in Iowa, with 69.2% of those 18 and older fully vaccinated and 72.5% of those 12 and older with at least one dose.
