The Kansas City Chiefs strengthened their hold on the AFC West lead with a 22-9 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday night at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs defense came up with three fourth-down stops and forced three turnovers, one of which turned into a 75 yard interception returned for a touchdown by Daniel Sorensen.

Patrick Mahomes threw for just 184 yards with 1 interception and a touchdown run. Chiefs receivers dropped a number of passes on the night but it didn’t matter with the defense leading the way.

Teddy Bridgewater threw for 257 yards for Denver and Javonte Williams gained 102 yards on the ground in replacement of the injured Melvin Gordon but the Broncos were held out of the end zone.

The Chiefs have now won 12 straight against the division rival Broncos dating back to the 2015 season. Denver fell to 6-6 on the season. The Chiefs improve to 8-4 and hold a one game lead over the Chargers in the AFC West.

Next up for the Chiefs is a home game against the Las Vegas Raiders next Sunday.
