The Atlantic Trojans fell to the Kuemper Catholic Knights on Friday night 34-0 at Carroll Stadium. It was a very tight game for a little over half of the contest then mistakes started to compound for the Trojans.

Carroll scored on the opening drive of the game with a 48-yard touchdown run from Taye Vonnahme to go up 7-0. That score held until the second half. Atlantic turned the ball over on an interception on their first drive of the second half. 9 plays later the Knights scored on a 1 yard plunge by quarterback Cooper Pottebaum to go up 13-0. The two teams traded a few punts and then Taye Vonnahme ripped off another long run. He rumbled 64-yards on the opening play of a drive with just under a minute left in the third quarter to make it 20-0.

Troubles compounded from there for the Trojans. Atlantic had a bad snap on a punt attempt their next possession and gave the ball back to Kuemper on the 22 yard line. A few plays later Vonnahme fumbled the ball into the end zone but lineman Carter Pudenz got on top of it for another Kuemper TD. Atlantic threw an interception on the first play of the ensuing drive and Kuemper punched it in on another Vonnahme touchdown run to make it 34-0, and that would prove to be the final score.

Atlantic falls to 0-2 on the season and will head back home to the Trojan Bowl to host Shenandoah next week. Kuemper Catholic moved to 1-1 and will travel to face Greene County in week 3.
