Foot Pursuit results in Felony Narcotics Arrest

Clarinda Police Chief Keith Brothers reports the arrest of a man on felony drug charges. Brother says on Saturday, August 14th at shortly after 7:00 p.m. officers observed James Robert Castillo, age 28, of Mount Ayr, walking in the 300 block of West Washington Street. Officers attempted to detain Castillo on outstanding arrest warrants from Montgomery and Ringgold counties.
Castillo fled on foot and a pursuit ensued with officers apprehending Castillo in the 400 block of W. Main Street. Castillo was found to be in possession of 50 grams of methamphetamine and packaging materials. Castillo is charged with felony possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and felony drug tax stamp violations. Castillo is being held at the Page County Jail on $105,000 bail.
Clarinda Police Officers were assisted by private citizens in the apprehension of Castillo. Reports have been forwarded to Page County Attorney’s Office for formal charging decisions.
