Atlantic High School fishing team places in Top 20 at HS World fishing Championships

A newly created team of anglers based in Atlantic had an impressive showing during the 2021 High School World Fishing Championship. Cooper Jipsen and Dylan Comes finished 20th out 398 teams during the competition held at Lake Hartwell in Anderson, South Carolina! On Saturday, the boys competed against the final 31 teams in the final around of the tournament. For the second day in a row they weighed in a full 3 limit bag weighing 4.14.

On the Southwest Iowa Fishing Team’s Facebook page, boat captain Dent Petty (also Cynthia Jean Mullen Petty) were thanked for their generosity with your time and boat you created a lifetime memory and a bucket list moment for a couple outstanding young men!

In addition to the team of Jipsen / Comes placing in the Top 20 in the World, Drey Newell / Braden Smith placed in the Top 50 in National Championships!

Officials say the next focus of the Southwest Iowa Fishing Team is on the Junior World Championships at the end of the month!
