(Update) Plattsmouth, NE man injured in Monday evening crash along I-80 in Pott. County

In an update to our earlier reports, the Iowa State Patrol says a man from Plattsmouth, Nebraska was injured during a collision Monday evening on Interstate 80, in Pottawattamie County. The crash happened at around 5:43-p.m. near mile-marker 49, on I-80 westbound. According to the Patrol’s report, 52-year old Juan A. Rodriguez, of Plattsmouth, was driving a 2010 Jeep Patriot, and had stopped on the shoulder. He was in the process of re-entering the roadway, when his SUV was struck in the rear by a 2012 Freightliner. The truck driver was identified as 54-year old Marion G. Killingsworth, of Decatur, Alabama.

Rodriguez -who was wearing his seat belt – was transported by Midwest Air helicopter to the University of Nebraska Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Killingsworth was uninjured in the crash. The accident remains under investigation.

Rescue crews and law enforcement responded Monday evening to an accident on I-80 westbound between mile-markers 49 & 50. Dispatch reports said the collision involved a semi and an SUV. Both vehicles were located in the north ditch, following the crash, which was reported at around 5:43-p.m. Marne Fire and Rescue and Walnut Rescue were dispatched to the scene. Reports indicated at least one person was transported by LifeNet helicopter to the UNMC in Omaha. Additional details were not immediately available late Monday evening.
