COLUMBIA, Mo. – Iowa State (32-22, 6-12 Big 12) fell 8-0 to UNI (32-18, 20-7 MVC) in the first game of the NCAA Columbia Regional on Friday night at Mizzou Softball Stadium.

The Panthers were able to strike first with a big second inning, plating four runs in the frame. Taylor Hogan notched a lead-off single, followed by a walk for Sammy Moss. Brooke Snider then gave the Panthers the lead with a two-RBI double down the left field line. An Emmy Wells RBI base hit pushed two more UNI runs across later in the inning to extend the lead to 4-0.

UNI busted the game open further in the top of the third. Madison Parks extended the lead to 5-0 with a two-out RBI single to left, followed by a three-run home run by Sammey Bunch.

Those would be the final UNI runs of the day, but it was what the Panthers needed thanks to an excellent performance in the circle by Kailyn Packard. The sophomore allowed just one hit in 5.0 innings of work.
