Harlan makes timely big shots to push past Atlantic

The Harlan boys basketball hit some big shots in key moments down the stretch to defeat Atlantic 62-49 on Tuesday night. The Cyclones led by one at the end of the first and increased the lead to seven by halftime. Atlantic trimmed the lead to 4 early in the third quarter but Isaiah Ahrenholtz hit a three at the top of the key to push the lead back to 7. Atlantic was down 40-35 to start the fourth quarter and after the teams traded buckets Bradley Curren hit a step back three to widen the gap again. The Cyclones went on to hit 10-12 free throws in the final quarter to keep Atlantic at bay and get the win.

The Cyclones were led by 19 points from Bradley Curren and 12 from Aidan Hall. Harlan gets back to .500 on the season with a 9-9 record. Next up for Harlan is a trip to Creston on Friday.

Atlantic got 15 points each from Dayton Templeton and Ethan Williams. The Trojans fall to 9-6 on the season and will prep for a couple of big conference race games to end the week. Home against Shenandoah on Thursday and at Clarinda on Friday. We’ll have coverage of that Clarinda game on Friday on KJAN with pregame at approximately 7:20 p.m.
