The Harlan girls basketball team opened up the game with an 11-0 run and held Atlantic at bay the rest of the game on their way to a 73-60 win Thursday night. The Cyclones led 22-10 at the end of the first, 38-25 at half, and 53-41 at the end of the third. Everytime the Trojans would close the gap to 12 or 10, the Cyclones responded with a big shot. Brecken Van Baale had a number of timely threes to turn momentum back to the Cyclones.

Van Baale finished with a game high 18 points. The Cyclones had three other players in double figures with 17 from Claire Schmitz, 15 for Jocelyn Cheek, and 13 from Ashley Hall. The Class 4A 11th ranked Cyclones improved to 10-3 with the win. The Cyclones will next play Saturday in Omaha at Sokol Arena against Bishop Neumann, NE at 9:30 a.m.

Atlantic was led by 15 points from Jada Jensen and 13 from Haley Rasmussen in the loss. The Trojans fall to 6-8 on the year and will now prep for a Saturday home game against Urbandale that was added to the schedule Thursday. That varsity game will tip at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night.
