The Stanton Viqueens basketball team grabbed an early lead over CAM on Thursday night and answered every Cougar run for a 55-41 road win. A poor shooting night sunk the Cougars as they fell 19 points short of their scoring average.

Stanton jumped out to a 15-6 lead by the end of the first quarter, then saw the Cougars climb within 5 late in the half. The Viqueens finished the half on an 8-2 run to lead by 11 at the break. That lead grew to 15 by the end of the third.

The Viqueens got some balanced scoring with 15 from Marleigh Johnson, 11 from Abby Burke, 10 from Kaitlyn Bruce, and 8 from Hope Ogletree. Stanton improved to 14-2 with the win and will face Essex on Friday night.

CAM was led by 11 from Eva Steffensen despite struggling through some foul trouble. The Cougars fall to 11-4 with the loss and will take on West Harrison on Saturday.
