Harlan alum Joel Osborn has been tabbed as the new head football coach at Benedictine College in Kansas. Osborn will take over for Larry Wilcox, who announced his retirement in November.

Osborn has been a longtime member of the Northwest Missouri State football coaching staff after playing football for the Bearcats as well. He has spent time as co-offensive coordinator, recruiting coordinator, running backs coach, and wide receivers coach at Northwest.

In his two seasons as co-offensive coordinator, he helped guide the Bearcats to a record of 22-5 with two MIAA Co-Championships and 2 berths in the NCAA Division II National Playoffs. His teams averaged 41.9 points per game during the 2019 season and 36.6 ppg in 2018.

Osborn was the 2008 MIAA Offensive Player of the Year as quarterback of the Bearcats and played in two NCAA Division II Championships in his tenure.

He will be formally introduced as coach on Tuesday during a special Facebook live event. He takes over a very successful Benedictine Ravens program. Coach Wilcox won 304 games between 1979 and 2020.
