NEWTON– The Iowa Department of Corrections reports an inmate died over the weekend. The DOC says 77-year old Ronald James Calvert was declared dead on Saturday morning after an unexpected medical emergency. Authorities said no foul play was expected.

Calvert had been serving a 25-year sentence for the crime of Sexual Abuse 2nd Degree from Floyd County. His sentence began on May 6, 2014.
