Iowa COVID-19 update for 11/10/20: 27 more dead, over 4,400 new confirmed Positive test results

Iowa’s Coronavirus dashboard (as of 10-a.m. Tuesday), indicated 27 more deaths have been attributed to COVID-19 since Monday’s report, for a total of 1,872. The number of deaths attributed to a pre-existing conditions statewide are 1,214, while deaths at Long-Term Care facilities amount to 900, 10 more than reported Monday. Officials say there are 4,441 new confirmed cases of the virus, for a total since the pandemic began, of 161,257. Cass County has eight more Positive cases of COVID, for a total of 591. Double-digit Positive case increases were reported in Guthrie, Harrison, Madison, Mills, Pottawattamie, Shelby and Union Counties. There were also two more deaths in Pott. County, for a pandemic total of 51.

The number of Long-Term Care facility (LTC) outbreaks jumped from 92 on Monday to a record 102, today. Those care facilities report 2,993 positive cases and 1,296 recoveries.   In Cass County, three facilities: Atlantic Specialty Care, The Heritage House, and the Griswold Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, have a combined total of 145 positive cases, with 37 recovered. A record number of Iowans are hospitalized with COVID-19. Hospitalizations were up from 1,034 Monday to 1,135 today. Some hospitals now report being at or near capacity. COVID patients in an ICU amount to 196 (compared to 184 Monday). Persons admitted to a hospital since 10-a.m. Monday number 166 (compared to 152 previously), and there are 89 patients on a ventilator (82 were reported Monday). In western/southwestern Iowa: there are 62 COVID patients in the hospital (compared to 65 Monday); 18 are in an ICU (3 less than yesterday), four people were admitted (Compared to 6 Monday), and there are currently three people on a ventilator (1 less than yesterday).

The health department reports 1,049,807 Iowans have been tested for COVID-19. The state received 9,535 lab test results in the previous day, with 2,782 Positive results and 6,693 Negative results (total Negative to-date: 886,763). The IDPH says 102,914 Iowans have recovered from the virus. The State’s Individual Positivity rate is up to 15.4%, and the 14-day rolling average is up to 20.7%. Cass County’s rate is 18%. Page County’s rate is 33.6% (the highest in southwest Iowa). Taylor County has a positivity rate of 25.1%. Shelby County 24.1%
